Vale of Clwyd Explorer

St Marcella's, Denbigh

Meet your friendly local guide on the A55 at Chester before a delightful drive through the scenic Vale of Clwyd – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Clwydian range of hills on the left hand side. Your guide will tell you stories of healing spas, Medieval castles, Civil War and famous people born here such as Henry Morton Stanley, who found Dr Livingstone. This was the battleground of English Kings and Welsh Princes and the home of North Wales’ own Elizabeth Taylor who made marriage a hobby.

Lunch at Café R in Ruthin

Café R is a family run venue, set in the heart of the Ruthin Craft Centre. After your a two course locally sourced lunch followed by tea or coffee, there will be a short talk by Silas Jones, one of the owners of the café and staunch supporter of using local ingredients in all of the café’s menus.

Patchwork Paté, Ruthin

From the stove in her kitchen, Margaret Carter started Patchwork Paté trying different products until she found her niche – paté. This is one of the top family run businesses in North Wales who supply not only royalty but celebs of such high profile they are not allowed to name them.
